Introduction

The common kingfisher just like the night stew, the black pepper and the blackbird, among others, is a bird specialized in river environments.

This is the environment where they find food, shelter and breeding or reproduction zone, in an increasingly humanized territory.

It is one of the birds with the most colorful coloration of the Catalan countries (Photo Wikipédia, author Lukasz Lukasik), and its morphology is adapted to its hunting practices.

It thows itself into the water to fall on fish, juveniles and small aquatic arthropods or their larvae, with its long-pointed sting.

Its population has been reduced in recent years by pollution.
